Photography Lighting Induction

Being introduced to the facilities in the photography studio has really benefited my understanding of the lighting equipment which will allow me to photograph my work at a professional standard. This will benefit me when I photograph final outcomes to post online on websites such as Behance and Instagram. Sites such as deMilked allow people to submit their own work to feature on the blog and there will be more of a chance of being accepted if the images are a high quality and a professional standard.

Photographed the recommended, basic settings:

Shutter Speed: 1/125
Aperture: F11
ISO: 100

I learnt how to use the light with the soft box to create different tones of light. After a basic introduction to the settings on the lights and soft boxes, it was easy to adapt them for different subjects.

Photographed NEST magazine because it is a professional standard and will be good practice:

I was able to get crisp outcomes because I had a consistent source of light that only changed when I changed the settings/position of the light.

For 2D outcomes, we learnt how to balance out the light by using two soft boxes on either side of the subject which will be useful when I am submitting posters or prints, etc.

I now feel a lot more confident using the lighting equipment and have gained a better understanding on how to produce professional photographs. I will definitely consider using this for final outcomes, especially 3D.
