I created a stop-motion music video for Rad Frü's song 'Tempting Meat' because the genre and tone of the song worked in harmony with the jumpy imagery and moving subjects.
I recently decided to put my work into the real world by posting it on Youtube and social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Social media allows me to follow bands and artists that inspire me so I tagged the band in the video on Twitter:
The band saw my tweet to them and even retweeted it for all of there followers to see. It was a relief to find the band like my work and shared it for more people to see. This can create opportunity.
As a result, I noticed the views on my Youtube video rocket in a very short space of time. I even got some likes on Youtube which I wasn't expecting:
Recently, my video was picked up again by the band and they posted it on there Facebook page:
I was really surprised by the kind words and the amount of times they have shared my video. Having my video posted on the Facebook page was huge for me as they have a large following so lots of people have my video to view on there homepage. Connecting with Rad Frü via social media was a really quick and simple way of getting my work into the world as I wouldn't have been able to do it on my own.
I noticed a lot of band members personal profiles (Blaenavon) and people in the music industry were liking my video on Facebook. This could lead to more opportunities as I have got my name and work out into the world.
I was fairly anxious before putting my work online as it can be a brutal and cruel method for getting work into the world, especially on social media. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the response I got and my confidence is growing.
