OUGD502 - Stanley James Press Contact

Identified an interest in editorial design, particularly the hand craft skills.

I discovered Stanley James Press whilst researching for OUGD504 - Design for Print for their focus on designing and 'making real, physical and fun things that you can hold in your hands.' SJP are always aiming to produce new and innovative solutions which is complimentary of my experimental practice and passion for print media.

Contact

I contacted Stanley James Press via their website simply introducing myself and my interest in design for print and book production. I expressed my appreciation for their work and managed to get a unique publication posted to my house showcasing their favourite projects from the previous year in a hand made pamphlet stitch.

Attention to detail - Tangible features such as the embossed web address on the back of the publication:

Emily Macaulay, managing director of Stanley James Press, wrote a hand written response to my email. I am really grateful for the personal insight and attention to detail that Macaulay has provided. Having already made contact with Emily, this would be a great opportunity to write back to Emily and organise an interview.

Mainly self initiated projects?

Where do you find the inspiration for your projects?

What was the moment when you decided to create bespoke publications?

How do you get briefs? - Are they self initiated or client based?

Have you ever thought about exploring different materials such as textiles?

What are you working on at the moment?
