OUGD503 - Creative Report - Interview Lecture

An interview is a formal conversation, however it is important not to sound too formal and risk losing the natural flow of a conversation. The purpose of the interview is to record a beneficial and informative interview with a person of your choice. To arrange, format, construct and conduct an investigation based on what I want to achieve.

Step 1: Contact

Give them a reason for my engagement and why I chose them in particular. Explain the reason they are my particular choice - Personal

Step 2: Contact interviewee and arrange a mutual method of connection
- Skype, email, phone call

Preparation - Make a list of what I want to achieve
Planning benefits time management

Questions:

Introducing questions
Follow up questions
Probing questions
Structuring questions - Move the interview onto the next subject
Open ended questions provoke a personal response from the professional.
Ask them what defines them/their practice.

Suggested Questions:
  • What's the best advice you ever received? 
  • Who inspires you and why?
  • What the hardest lesson you ever learned?
  • Describe a defining moment in your life.
  • What is your biggest accomplishment?
  • Do you have a personal motto?
  • What drives you?
